Year 6 Consortium Girls Group, 23-24 November
This short course is designed to help prepare girls sitting the new-format Consortium Pretest. The group will focus on sections introduced to the exam last year, in particular the critical reasoning (‘creative comprehension’) assessment, and the spatial maths.
Day I – will address critical reasoning. Participants will be shown how to use and compare resources, how to evaluate evidence, and techniques to help them with logical analysis of texts and documents.
Day II – will look in detail at the type of spatial maths problems found on the new-format maths paper, and will provide examples of these questions in both written and online format.
The class will be led by Dr Tom Parkinson and Laurie Coldwell. Tom co-founded Winterwood in 2011 and has led entrance exam group courses for the past ten years. His students have an excellent success rate, consistently being offered places at leading academic schools. Laurie has worked in the industry for the past twelve years, and has a huge range of entrance exam experience, creating bespoke non-verbal reasoning and maths content for Winterwood. Tom and Laurie engage students through learning games, and students will have the opportunity to earn points to win prizes!
