Course Introduction

This focus group is designed to specifically prepare students for stage one of the Westminster Under 7+ assessment.

Course Schedule

The group will focus on the specific format of this assessment, which differs from other 7+ assessments.  It will teach students questions in the format of each of the three sections – English comprehension and grammar, maths problem solving and arithmetic, and non-verbal and verbal reasoning.

The course will conclude with a Westminster Under format assessment, for which full feedback will be provided.

“Oliver’s teaching style is patient, accommodating and encouraging, responding to a student’s unique learning style while also focusing on the specifics essential for their goals. He creates fun, dynamic resources which contextualise learning within topics that his students enjoy. He loves bringing his broader passions – from literature to football to Star Wars – into his teaching.”

— Parent of year 6 student

Group Leads

Dr Tom Parkinson

Tom will teach day II – Tom is Winterwood’s co-founder and overseas the entrance exam cohort.  Tom has been running educational groups for the past decade, and has created several bespoke learning games which he uses in his group classes.  Tom has found that group courses really drive attainment – possible due to the nature of the groups, which are supportive and provide guidance and reassurance, and possible as gameplay is incorporated, which helps to mitigate stress and makes learning fun.  Either way, it works!

Oliver Ford

Oliver will teach day I – Olly is one of Winterwood’s long standing super tutors who specialises in maths, English and reasoning from 7+ up to 13+, along with GCSE level History and Geography.  He has an impressive success rate tutoring students into Eton, Westminster, St Paul’s, Highgate, Radley, Latymer Upper, Wellington, Brighton College, Dulwich College, Winchester, Latymer, Godolphin and Latymer, NLCS, South Hampstead, Francis Holland, Lady Eleanor Holles, UCS & City of London School Boys.

Our Cancellation Policy

If you cancel less than two weeks ahead of the start date of the course, the fee is non-refundable and non-transferable to another date or another student.

If you cancel outside of the two week course date, we will happily credit your account to attend a future course.

If you do not show up for a course, you are not eligible for a credit or refund.

Why we charge a cancellation fee

This is to cover the tutors’ reserved time to run a group course, to pay for their time spent pre-planning the class and relevant material, printing fees incurred and the loss of revenue to Winterwood as it is often too late to fill a cancelled space.  More importantly, other students miss out on attending a group.
