Course Introduction

In 2024/25, the 7+ and 8+ exams for prep schools were as competitive as ever.  All schools were oversubscribed, and the most academic schools required high grades in every subject area tested.

Nevertheless, students we worked with received offers from schools such as St. Paul’s, Latymer, Bute House, Westminster and UCS.  This is in part due to our in-house mock exams and tests, which allowed us to track progress and guide tutors and parents, and give children the valuable experience of sitting an exam under time conditions.

Course Schedule

We are offering the second set of mock exams on Sunday, 6th September.  These mock exams will give them the experience of sitting a practice test alongside their peers, checking that no progress has been lost over the summer, and ensuring they get targeted support in the right areas in the time remaining before the real tests.

These exams will include papers in English, maths and verbal and non-verbal reasoning for 7+ students.  These papers will be marked by our in-house entrance exam lead, Jacob Shephard, who will produce a detailed, personalised feedback report which will be shared with you and all Winterwood tutors working with your child, and it will be used to guide their preparation going forward.

“Jacob was a mixture of authority figure and friendly face, engaging with our son both on an educational level and taking the time to find out what inspires him outside of school. Our son was successful in his applications for all the five independent schools.”

Our Cancellation Policy

If you cancel less than one week ahead of the exam, the fee is non-refundable and non-transferable to another date or another student.

If you cancel outside of the one week exam date, we will happily credit your account to attend a future mock.

If you do not show up for a mock, you are not eligible for a credit or refund.

Why we charge a cancellation fee

This is to cover the tutors’ reserved time to run a mock exam, to pay for their time spent pre-planning the exam and relevant material, printing fees incurred and the loss of revenue to Winterwood as it is often too late to fill a cancelled space.  More importantly, other students miss out on attending an exam.
