Course Introduction

This short, three-day course will comprehensively prepare students for the Consortium exam.

Led by Dr Tom Parkinson – a hugely experienced tutor, with an excellent Consortium success record – this course will cover both core subjects and the more challenging aspects of the new format Consortium exam, such as creative comprehension and maths puzzles.

Course Schedule

Day I – the group will cover creative comprehension – for many students, the most challenging aspect of the Consortium exam – followed by work on the combined English and VR paper.  (Friday 13th November, 4-6pm)

Day II – the group will focus on maths puzzles, a short but tricky section of the exam to navigate.  The group will then cover NVR and maths in the afternoon session.  (Saturday 14th November, 10am-3pm)

Day III – the course will send with a Consortium format mock exam.  Full feedback, marking and recommendations will be provided within 48 hours.  (Sunday 15th November, 10am-3pm)

“Winterwood tutors are highly recommended. Their group sessions are perfect for boosting knowledge in the key areas, while kids enjoy the competitive environment. Their tutors are very keen and productive!”

Group Leads

Dr Tom Parkinson

Tom is Winterwood’s co-founder and overseas the entrance exam cohort.  Tom is an experienced teacher and tutor, with over twenty thousand hours of experience, and has helped hundreds of students pass entrance exams and gain places at their target schools.

Tom has found that group courses really drive attainment – possible due to the nature of the groups, which are supportive and provide guidance and reassurance, and possible as game play is incorporated, which helps to mitigate stress and makes learning fun.  Either way, it works!

Our Cancellation Policy

If you cancel less than two weeks ahead of the start date of the course, the fee is non-refundable and non-transferable to another date or another student.

If you cancel outside of the two week course date, we will happily credit your account to attend a future course.

If you do not show up for a course, you are not eligible for a credit or refund.

Why we charge a cancellation fee

This is to cover the tutors’ reserved time to run a group course, to pay for their time spent pre-planning the class and relevant material, printing fees incurred and the loss of revenue to Winterwood as it is often too late to fill a cancelled space.  More importantly, other students miss out on attending a group.
