Course Introduction

This comprehensive five-day course will cover all four entrance exam subjects – English, maths, verbal and non-verbal reasoning.

The course is designed to help students prepare for exams for academically competitive schools immediately after half term.

Course Schedule

Day I – will focus on English.  We will review multiple-choice comprehension, written comprehension and dictation.

Day II – will focus on maths.  We will through all core 7+ rules – time, money, fractions, geometry and arithmetic, covering all core operations.

Day III – will focus on verbal reasoning.  Students will cover vocabulary-based reasoning, codes and patterns, and problem solving.

Day IV – will focus on non-verbal reasoning.  Students will cover all common question types, and we will also work on abstract problem solving and numerical reasoning questions.

Day V – on our final day we will prepare and work through a comprehensive assessment, in entrance exam format.  Families will receive full feedback, guidance and marking from our in-house mock exam team, who will make recommendations and offer advice on this basis.

“The week with Laurie was amazing. George didn’t put up a single fuss or fight and happily marched over to see him every day. I can’t tell you how much this means to us because George has always struggled with motivation and the fact that he just got on with it is a clear sign that Laurie was able to engage well with him”.

Our Cancellation Policy

If you cancel less than two weeks ahead of the start date of the course, the fee is non-refundable and non-transferable to another date or another student.

If you cancel outside of the two week course date, we will happily credit your account to attend a future course.

If you do not show up for a course, you are not eligible for a credit or refund.

Why we charge a cancellation fee

This is to cover the tutors’ reserved time to run a group course, to pay for their time spent pre-planning the class and relevant material, printing fees incurred and the loss of revenue to Winterwood as it is often too late to fill a cancelled space.  More importantly, other students miss out on attending a group.
