Course Introduction

Winterwood is offering two original mock exams this autumn – these will test English, maths, verbal and non-verbal reasoning.  The papers are geared towards the ISEB pre-test, the Consortium pre-test and other similar pre-test exams.

Why are these recommended?  Students who start year 6 in September will sit their first-stage examinations for a range of day and boarding schools this term.  These mock exams will give them the experience of sitting a practice test alongside their peers, checking that no progress has been lost over the summer, and ensuring they get targeted support in the right areas in the time remaining before the real tests.

Course Schedule

These are two different sets of papers and your child is encouraged to sit both exams if possible.  These are the last two Winterwood mock exams before the ISEB pre-test.

You will receive a detailed, personalised report following the exam written by our in-house education and exam lead, Jacob Shephard.  The report is shared with all Winterwood tutors working with your child and is used to guide their preparation in this crucial period.

There will be another mock exam in November for girls sitting the Consortium pre-test exam (day schools including Godolphin & Latymer, South Hampstead High School, and Francis Holland).

“Hannah worked exceptionally hard over the summer with her online tutors.  The progress she made really shone through in her mock results, and her tutors can now focus on the handful of areas identified and recommended by Jacob over the final few weeks.”

We offer exams geared towards the multiple-choice, reasoning-based exams that students will take for entry to independent schools at 7+, 8+, 11+ and 13+.  Our mock exam papers cover English, maths, verbal and non-verbal reasoning for students who will sit the papers relevant to their age group.

These papers will be marked by our in-house entrance exam lead Jacob Shephard, who will produce a detailed, personalised feedback report which will be shared with you and all Winterwood tutors working with your child, and it will be used to guide their preparation going forward. We encourage all exam students to sit our mock exams.

Our Cancellation Policy

If you cancel less than two weeks ahead of the start date of the course, the fee is non-refundable and non-transferable to another date or another student.

If you cancel outside of the two week course date, we will happily credit your account to attend a future course.

If you do not show up for a course, you are not eligible for a credit or refund.

Why we charge a cancellation fee

This is to cover the tutors’ reserved time to run a group course, to pay for their time spent pre-planning the class and relevant material, printing fees incurred and the loss of revenue to Winterwood as it is often too late to fill a cancelled space.  More importantly, other students miss out on attending a group.
