Course Introduction

This short, two-day group is designed to familiarise students with ISEB Pretest content.

This is aimed at all students sitting the ISEB Pretest in November, and is targeted to help them get used to major question types before they travel, and to identify topics to work on over the summer with their tutor.

Course Schedule

Day I – we will work on maths and NVR.  We will cover all recent exam questions, and finish with a short, targeted assessment, which will provide a list of topics to address.

Day II – we will work on English and VR.  We will cover all recent exam questions, and finish with a short, targeted assessment, which will provide a list of topics to address.

We heartily recommend the entire Winterwood team for 11+ prep tutoring! We engaged Winterwood to give our Year 6 son a shot at the impossible — securing a late assessment place at a top London day school. Having left London after Year 5 to move abroad only to decide we need to return to London, our Year 6 son was perfectly disadvantaged from having missed the regular 11+ process. In mid-March, I reached out to Winterwood on the recommendation of many friends to see if they could rush prep our son for late assessments in mid-April for several top London day schools. Our son only had a month to prepare and thus he worked with several different Winterwood tutors focusing mainly on English, but also some advanced Maths work. Doing remote tutoring almost daily during that time given the Easter holidays, the Winterwood team came together to prepare our son on a fast track 11+ prep process. Not only did our son enjoy the entire process despite the intensity, he felt like in every session he learned a ton. He was able to adapt quickly to learn the right strategies for the 11+ assessment and the end result was nothing short of phenomenal. Our son secured a late assessment place to his top choice London day school, which would have been his top choice had he never left the UK. It’s nothing short of a miracle made possible in large part to the Winterwood team!

Group Leads

Dr Tom Parkinson

Tom is Winterwood’s co-founder and overseas the entrance exam cohort.  Tom is an experienced teacher and tutor, with over twenty thousand hours of experience, and has helped hundreds of students pass entrance exams and gain places at their target schools.

Tom has found that group courses really drive attainment – possible due to the nature of the groups, which are supportive and provide guidance and reassurance, and possible as game play is incorporated, which helps to mitigate stress and makes learning fun.  Either way, it works!

Our Cancellation Policy

If you cancel less than two weeks ahead of the start date of the course, the fee is non-refundable and non-transferable to another date or another student.

If you cancel outside of the two week course date, we will happily credit your account to attend a future course.

If you do not show up for a course, you are not eligible for a credit or refund.

Why we charge a cancellation fee

This is to cover the tutors’ reserved time to run a group course, to pay for their time spent pre-planning the class and relevant material, printing fees incurred and the loss of revenue to Winterwood as it is often too late to fill a cancelled space.  More importantly, other students miss out on attending a group.
